1. Have a routine.
First of all, to be one step ahead of an acne breakout, you need a routine. Be consistent with your routine. It’s the only way to figure out what works best for your skin.
2. Get some sleep.
It’s no mystery that sleep can have a negative impact on your skin. Sleep keeps your immune system strong and relieves stress which is an acne trigger. So, get those zzzs!
3. Reduce stress.
We know it’s easier said than done. But reducing stress will not only help you maintain healthy skin, it will help all areas of your life. Find something you enjoy that helps you reduce stress and go for it!
4. Balance diet.
There’s no magical Acne Cure Diet. Eating fewer simple carbs and more quality proteins, fruits and veggies is best. And always keep an eye out for breakouts after certain foods so you can eliminate them to see if they are contributing to your breakouts.
6. Sunscreen, just slather it!
Do this no matter what time of year it is, how old you are, or what skin type you have. For most of us, broad-spectrum SPF 30 is perfect. Find a sunscreen that is best for your skin!
7. Don’t over wash.
Two washes a day are plenty to remove bacteria and dead skin cells. Washing more often can lead to dryness and irritation.
8. Stop, not so hot!
Wash with lukewarm water. Whoever thought that steaming hot water cleans best was wrong. It just makes a red face redder and who needs that?
9. Exfoliate and Moisturize
Exfoliation is critical for unclogging pores and moisturizing will help remove built-up sebum. Both are a need when it comes to maintaining healthy skin.
10. Don’t be picky.
Picking, poking and squeezing a pimple drives bacterium deeper and can scar surrounding skin. So, let it be!
